I Am a Creature of Habit.

23 Nov

I love how the news is just a double edged sword. It claims it is there to inform us of goings on in the world. But it does more harm than good by putting fear in viewers over everything. We probably have a more schitzophrenic and scared nation now than ever before. I think the doctors and the news networks are in cahoots with each other to scare the crap out of all of us. For example:

“Scientists say…”

…that if we use our cell phones too much, it can cause can cancer.

…that if you take zoloft, cymbalta, yada yada blerg while preggers you have a chance of having a kid with a birth defect.. (Sidebar..why would anyone take these pills while they’re pregnant ANYWAY??? just adds to my theory of how so many are not the sharpest knives in the kitchen)

…unisom or ambien makes you fall asleep faster but we have tested that you can also become addicted.

…more germs are spread from people touching doorknobs, their computers, railings, car doors, bus seats  and train seats

You know what i wish? I will tell you anyway. I wish doctors would spend MORE TIME, ENERGY, AND WILLPOWER at trying to come up with, oh I don’t know the CURES for all of these issues instead of sounding like a broken record and telling folks what to be fearful of at the present. Next thing you know, they will say fear itself will lead to death. Oops, too late. That’s in the 4 am news coverage. People are going to turn into hermits. Which means, they will be living within their own germs. I personally know my germs on a first name basis. We work together. Do you?

We all learn as we get older that two things are certain, death and taxes. But people left out a crucial third. The third? That as you get older, your patience with people goes down the toilet. You just don’t have the energy nor the time to deal with idiocy. Oh maybe that’s me. After a certain age, I have come to the realization that a good chunk of people are just completely stuck on stupid and they refuse to fast forward, just stay in rewind. And yes that is a tape player reference. Look it up dear. Clearly said in Rod Sterling tone “submitted for your approval’:

I can’t stand motorcyclists and bicyclists. You want to know why? I will tell you. Because they spend more time trying to cause more headaches on the road while I’m in the car. We’re supposed to treat you all like motorists. Yet you continuously prove my point of frustration by going through stop signs, intersections, and let’s not forget red lights. But yet, i’m supposed to respect you all. If you can’t stop at a red light like us in the cars, then I have no sympathy for you if something happens. You all are NOT God. And last time I checked, it does NOT feel good to have a car door hit you because you tried to weave in and out of a lane. God forbid there are groups of you all one beside not behind, oh no because that would be too much like right, each other but beside each other holding up traffic EVEN more. And you all know what you’re doing because if there are three lanes, and you occupy TWO of the lanes, I can’t pass on the inside. Well I could, but unlike SOME drivers I abide by the law.  It also bugs the bejeezus out of my cockle doodle duck when I SEE a bike lane.. There’s an actual lane for you all to travel on, yet you all don’t use it. At all. Nope. I’m so glad DC used my hard earned tax money to paint the street bike lane to help people, and therefore eliminating perfectly good car lane space. Yeah. That’s just freaking fantastic. I love seeing that while the bike rider who is NOT in the newly painted bike lane is in between me and a big rig. But but but, no you bicyclists go right ahead and get in my way and break the law. Now for those FEW bicyclists and motorists who do the right thing.. this doesn’t apply to you all. And I know of one who enters in events so shout out to my friend Carrie, who does the right thing. Ok… moving on. Moo Goo Gy Pan..

Patience… it’s what’s for dinner.

Alright I feel much better now. Well not really. But I put it out there..

And here are some more thought provoking questions that make my brain hurt. What the heck ever happened to Nelly Furtado? Did she FINALLY become that bird and fly away?

Why did Scrubs stay on a gazillion seasons? Is it safe to say Chuck is the new Scrubs, staying on four seasons too long?

When will the writers of SNL give Keenan Thompson decent skits where he’s actually funny? I mean, imitating Whoopi from The View aside..

and why are we grossed out by fish parts, but yet enjoy eating caviar, which is essentially.. fish eggs.

Talk amongst yerselves. I’m going to drink more egg nog.

I thought the comedians/actors on there wrote most of their own stuff & therefore were partially to blame for their lameness.

And yes, I’m getting tired of the sky is falling stories to get higher ratings. It’s no wonder so many people are on Zoloft! I can’t even watch GMA anymore because every day it was something new to be afraid of. My big sister has been trying to tell us that exposure to germs is a GOOD thing! We need to build up our immunities so using that hand sanitizer stuff kills the bad AND the GOOD germs. But of course no one wants to get sick so I wind up using it more times than not. I’d think with us taking public transportation we should have pretty good immunities by now. Did you know “Both copper and brass have antibacterial properties that can be used to kill germs in kitchens, bathrooms, hospitals and other medical facilities. Both have been used for surgical instruments and other medical equipment. Copper has been used to sterilize wounds, cure headaches, ease burns, and soothe arthritis pain.” Hmmm…. maybe doorknobs & railings should be made out of that.

What gets me are all the commericals for medications. The side effects are way worse than the problem you’re trying to get rid of!

You know it’s funny. When my Mom found out about some of my tats she was SOOOO worried I contracted Hepatitis. And those needles are more sterile than many things we “claim” are sterile lol. I get so tired of being scared into everything. It is really truly starting to piss me off when watching the news. I mean, I hate to NOT watch because contrary to my favorite line “I find bliss in ignorance” I WANT to know, I just hate HATE HATE the spin factor. Like no one seems to want to discuss what you just mentioned.. abt the building up of our immunities. All I hear is “this can cause that that that and this this oh and by the way THAT”… enough already. I’m starting to understand that movie with Mike Douglas “Falling Down” a LOT more now that I’m older lol. I feel the same way. And I also understand why Dave Letterman used to throw TVs outside.. I’m at that point now. I feel like I am being force fed fear. Even in the republican debates I mean.. they went on and on and ON about terrorism and fear. I honestly want to barricade myself in my apartment, find a way to “work from home” and call it a life.

And look out for bicyclists.. mark that off my list. I will say this, you couldn’t pay me to be a bike messenger. I’ll become “one of them.”

Exactly! “I honestly want to barricade myself in my apartment, find a way to “work from home” and call it a life” Same here! You don’t want to watch the news but then you’re afraid of what you’re missing.

Oh, and as for those bicyclists! They scare the crap outta me when I’d be driving & they’d come flying up between the lanes & the cars! I saw a guy popping a wheelie on 495! And he had been FLYING! Just crazy! Go ahead & kill yourself but don’t take me with you! And I’d NEVER ride a bike in DC! That’s just insanity!

I say they should stay on the sidewalks!! Let them hit the pedestrians lol! I don’t know about MD, but it’s illegal in DC to ride a bike on a sidewalk.. unfortunately.

I don’t know about MD either. No way would I ride in the streets in DC! A girl I know had a SUV make a right turn in front of her & she ran right into the side of the thing & left a big dent in the door from her head! She was pretty hurt.

Damn! Ouch… I don’t think I’d ride in the streets anywhere lol.
